Excerpt:
Jake slid his fingers down her arm and across her wrist. A spark lit through her. She gasped and her gaze locked with his. She made no attempt to draw away. Corey couldn’t…she didn’t want to.
“How is it?” He glanced at her scraped and bruised elbow.
Coming out of the trance, she lifted her arm and showed him the slight injury. “Oh, it’s fine.”
“I would have been over sooner, but the other guys got you, and I didn’t want you to be overwhelmed.”
Corey couldn’t conjure up a response. What he said, and how he said it, turned her knees to jelly. She felt like the high school girl who was just noticed by the popular jock. She couldn’t stop staring at his soft, dark brown eyes, even though a sensible voice in her head told her to just walk away and forget him.
“I’m very sorry. But I really have to go.” She peeked around his massive chest to the men beyond. “It was so nice meeting you guys,” she called over, waving. She turned to pick up her bike, then pushed it along and hopped on.
“Stop by anytime,” she heard Jake yell behind her.
She smiled but didn’t turn around. Glancing at her watch, she’d realized she was supposed to have started her first day of work eight minutes ago. Fear made her pedal faster.
She hoped she hadn’t lost the job already. But what if she did? How would she pay rent? How would she feed Molly?

Now a blog post from Keira Kroft:
What do you think sets your book apart from other books in the same genre?

I think every book is unique in the fact that each writer puts their own experiences and a little bit of themselves into their stories and that in some ways can set a story apart. When dealing with romantic suspense that takes on an entire life of its own. When adding in a tag like suspense or paranormal to a romance novel you have a wider range of directions in which you can take your story, other than the typical formulaic romance. There are a lot less rules and a broader road in which you can take your particular story down.
That being said, Glow in the Dark is set apart in three ways.
#1 It is suspenseful in nature, yet it takes on the tone of a mystery. The reader is left wondering ‘who dun it’ and what’s really going on. That is something that readers don’t quite except when they pick it up, and so far that has been a good thing. They seem to enjoy not knowing what is going to happen.
#2 This particular story has a lot of me in it. The heroin in Glow in the Dark, Corey Nolan, is a bartender and a single mother who has a fear of fire. She has a deep admiration for fire fighters because they are the ones who keep her safe from her worst fear.  Her daughter is kidnapped twice and Corey is stalked, these are all embellishments of things I have experienced. The only difference in the story as opposed to my real life is that I did have three friends that all worked at the same firehouse. However, I have never nor would I ever date a firefighter. I wouldn’t take the chance that the relationship might work out .I am truly afraid of fire and knowing that my significant-other ran a greater risk of meeting his maker in blaze of glory is not something I could contend with. But, I have absolutely nothing against a firefighter calendar :D
#3. You also won’t find this particular combination of romantic suspense, mystery, Chicago, firefighters, kidnapping and stalking in any other story that has been done before.

Thank you so much, Keira! It sounds amazing! I look forward to reading it in the near future!
