Yep! In My Dream's has a NEW COVER!!!

Yep... there were one too many people who said that they thought my book was about a werewolf. But I don't think they'll be saying that anymore! I thought the old cover looked sort of cartoony anyway, and I really wasn't happy with it... SO, I changed it to something pretty.
In case you're wondering... Yes. I designed the cover. :) Didn't think I was multi-talented huh? I purchased the rights from Shutterstock and made a few tweaks here and there... and voila!
I knew In My Dreams needed a facelift. It was lost in a sea of beautiful covers, and now I'm totally satisfied with the new look and am SO TOTALLY EXCITED to show it to the world. Whoo-hoo! Yippee!
I am super excited but it's also 1:14am, so I'm beyond exhausted and kinda loony right now.
I hope everyone will LOVE the new cover as much as I do!
Big difference, huh? Let me know what you think!
New Cover - So pretty! :)
Old Cover - Blah! :/

Halloweeny Stories: Part 2

Sorry! I've been slackin'... but for good reason. Promise! I've had bad migraines for the past 3 days, and it's finally subsiding. Even Excedrine for Migraine, caffeine, and lots of water didn't help. :( But I'm better now, and the brightness of the computer screen isn't making my eyes scream and take cover under their lids.

Now... on to PART 2:
Another one of my personal experiences was when my husband and I moved into a small cottage soon after getting married. The landlady lived in the main house at the front of the property, and there was a big yard separating the two homes.
Everything was alright for the first month, until one night after going to bed I got the “press”. That’s when you feel like something is sitting on your chest, putting pressure on you and you cannot move or speak. I remember staring at my husband who was sound asleep, and tried to call him for help, but not a sound escaped my lips… This was again, the first experience of many to follow.
What sucked was that my husband didn't have any experiences or feel anything wrong with the place. I felt loony, scared, and was pregnant.
Then finally, one night while we were lying in bed, music started blaring from our empty guestroom. My husband got up and went into the room to find that our cassette player had been turned on. Now, this was a CASSETTE player. Remember those plastic square things that were replaced by CD’s? The only way to turn it on is to press down the play button, and… it was pressed down, with no one around. Go figure...(?) I was a little freaked, but glad that he finally experienced something.
Another night, after our son was born, he wouldn’t stop crying. I tried everything, but he kept crying and crying, and I couldn’t figure out why. I finally took him into the living-room so my husband could get some sleep. After a few hours he finally settled down, so I turned off the TV and started to get ready for bed. I instantly had an eerie, cold feeling rush over me, like something was watching. I remember not wanting to turn and look down the dark hall behind me, but against my best judgement... I did.
A white mist appeared and was floating in the hallway. Every hair on my body stood on end. Suddenly the mist shot toward me. I froze, and gasped for air, feeling a heavy pressure on my chest.  I couldn’t move. I couldn’t scream, and all I could remember doing was praying. It finally released me and I watched it shoot into the kitchen and dissipate into the refrigerator. Why there? Who knows. Maybe it was hungry?
So anyway... I ran through the hall and woke my husband.
Talk about a ghostly visitation! And why me??? I later found that the landlady's mother had passed in the cottage. Maybe she wasn't happy that I was there? If it was her, she was a BIG MEANIE!
We moved from the home a few months later, and since then I haven't had any other horrible experiences. THANK GOD!!!
So the question is...
Do you believe in ghosts?

Halloweeny Stories - My Spirit Encounters - Part 1

I live in Hawaii where many homes are built on or around ancient burial sites, with countless stories of people who've had ghostly encounters. I told you I'd tell you about my personal experiences, so here we go...
I vividly remember a house we lived in when I was about five years old. Lightly putting it… it was HAUNTED. Everyone that visited had some type of experience, whether big or small. But the experiences I had were terrifying, to say the least.
My younger brother and I shared a bedroom at the back of the old house. The back yard had a hill which sloped downward towards our room. It was filled with many different types of fruit trees, and dead, dried leaves which covered the ground. To get to the back yard, you’d have to unlatch a metal gate on the side of the house, and swing it open (which made a loud squeaky, creaky noise).
One night, after our mom finished reading us a story, tucked us safely into bed, and turned off the lights, my brother and I heard someone unlatch the metal gate. It creaked open, and then re-latched. Footsteps, crunched in the dried leaves just outside our bedroom. I froze, listening. Was it a prowler?
We screamed, jumped out of our beds, and bolted down the hall to our parents room. They turned on all the lights, and scoured the backyard only to find - nothing… (Of course) It began to happen nightly, so we eventually learned to deal with that part of it.
But then… horrible things started to happen.
One warm night, I woke up on my stomach, with my head pressed down into my pillow. I couldn’t move, or turn my head for air, because my body was frozen, paralyzed. I remember how difficult it was to breathe, and how hot the air was in my pillow from my panting. I was being suffocated.
I started to pray, and not too long after that, my body released from the pressure, and I turned, gasping precious air into my lungs.
Like I said… I was only five, and this became almost a nightly terror. I never wanted to sleep, horrified that I'd wake up again, paralyzed, with my face pressed into my pillow. It is a distant memory that I'll never forget, though sometimes I wish I could.
We moved out of that creepy old house into one that I slept peacefully in... but that's not the end. Stay tuned for part 2: The haunting continues...

Saturday, October 8, 2011

I can't believe it's Saturday... again! Alarm went off at 6:3Oam, so I snoozed for 15 more minutes, then stumbled downstairs to press the "on" button on the coffee pot. My hubby has to perform a wedding this morning at Secret Cove; however Secret Cove is no longer a "secret". It's been found out, and is now a wedding "hot-spot". Here's a picture I took the other day when I went with him to a morning wedding. Isn't it beautiful! So picturesque. (Especially with no one there.) And I took this with my lame camera phone.
And yes... this is one of the spots in my novel In My Dreams. Pretty cool huh! Well... I'm not there today. Today I'm stuck behind this computer... working, and getting an EMF tan. Ugh! :)

 Have a nice weekend!

Back on Tour! Whoo-hoo!

I just got an email from Kari at Teen Book Scene. In My Dreams is going on tour with them in December! Whoo-hoo! I just thought I'd share because I'm really excited. Poor Lizzy and Michael have been feeling neglected due to my lack of "promotion". That's the thing I don't like about self-publishing... promoting sucks. I'm not a promoter and usually don't like to toot my own horn. I'm a BAD horn tooter. But, if I don't promote, no one else will, and my lovely story will die, and be a ghost just like Michael. (Oops! Spoiler!!! I think I was supposed to alert you before, but I didn't even know I was going to write that.) So any-who...that's their Christmas present... A new tour!!! Yippee!!

I'm trying to target my "dream agent" for the next novels. I don't want to mention names and jinx the whole thing, so help me by crossing-your-fingers, hoping, wishing, and if you find Tinkerbell, tell her I need some magic pixie dust. Wait - her magic dust makes you fly, doesn't it??? Heck, I'll take it anyway! Maybe I can save some gas. The prices here on Maui are RIDICULOUS! Like $4.55 per gallon! Yeah... I really need some of that magic pixie dust!

Well, there I go... rambling again, and it was all to say In My Dreams is going on tour in December with Teen Book Scene!

I'm off to some horn tooting lessons. Toot-a-loo!

It's Saturday!

Wow! Saturday came in like a rushing wind. Sheeze - time is flying nowadays. I can remember sitting in front of the Christmas tree, ripping open my present to find my very own Kindle. *tears* Yes, I actually cried when I got my Kindle last Christmas. Pathetic, I know... But it was my only present, and it was the present I really, really wanted. My husband and kids were very sneaky.
Well, October is here! The month of endless candy supplies in stores and at a discounted price! Whoo-hoo! Now... what to write about???
My1st day of Halloween:

I did a guest post a few months back about "Spirits". It's long, so I'll cut in into two. Can you tell I'm lazy? Hey, I just got up. It's 7:21am, and my coffee is still brewing. I'm surprised my brain is even firing to type this word, or this one, or this one. Ok, I'm beginning to irritate myself.

So anyway...here is part one of my "Spirit" Post.
I live in Hawaii, a place many call paradise, but paradise also has its dark side.
There are countless tales and legends of spirits here, and these are a few..
Let’s start with the Night Marchers. *echos in the background* The Night Marchers are a group of spirit warriors who march just after dark, or just before the sun rises. It is said that anyone who looks upon these marchers, or is seen by one… will DIE, unless you have kin that is marching. They're supposed to give warnings before they set off on their march.  Some have heard drums, conch shells blowing, or have even seen torches. It is said that if you lie on the ground, face down, they won’t see you. Some say that this only helps if you’re naked. (I wonder who came up with that one?) I mean... seriously?
Then we have the tales of the little people called Menehunes. These mischievous little guys live in the forests and hidden valleys of the islands. They are referred to as island pixies or trolls, and range from 6 inches to two feet tall. (If I found one I could put it in my pocket. Awe! It could be my little pet. So cute. :)) They love to eat bananas and fish. Legend says that they are very strong and master craftsmen, and can build or craft mighty feats of engineering or construction overnight.
And lastly… I can't leave out our famous... Madame Pele, the volcano goddess. Witnesses have seen her near the volcano (on the Big Island of Hawaii), walking on the forest roads, and sometimes hitchhiking. She is said to be beautiful, with long, flowing, black hair, and has been seen wearing a crimson dress. This legend says that if she is seen with a white dog, this is a warning that an eruption is soon to follow.
Well... I think I need to get my coffee now, and start my day. It's 7:46am. Not too bad. And I finished my post for today! YAY ~ I'm not a liar!
Until Tuesday, then. I'll tell my haunted tales. Real ghost stories from my past. It'll be scary!
Ooooh...Coffee time!
